Cory Schneider on Tim Thomas: ‘Put your own agenda aside’
Vancouver Canucks goalkeeper Cory Schneider is both American and Boston so it seemed a perfect candidate to explain the controversy to hit the Bruins goalie Tim Thomas, the Monday U.S. President Barack Obama’s show jumping team visited the White House’s head. Although Schneider felt that the theme was “a little puffed” out of proportion, he did not hesitate to offer his two cents.
“Everyone is entitled their rights, is the point of the Constitution,” Schneider said. “It is the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, politics and all that stuff to have. It is absolutely right Tim. His beliefs are his own and that is good is. It’s just the timing a little strange. If your team is in this team as one’s own agenda is to stand aside and perhaps even in support.
“Of course, he firmly believes in his political views,” added Schneider. “But as an American, I think we all have a little respect for the position of president. Whether or not like the guy, he is the President of the United States. Tim has a large living room and a great career in the U.S. and I am sure he has of taxpayer dollars and all other rights as American citizens we enjoy all the benefits. It is a little light on a kind of forget that, and you choose to do that. “
